Alley Boy f/ G-Fresh “True Story” (2011, DTE)
Going to keep posting videos from my favorite street record of 2011, Purgatory, as long as Alley keeps dropping them. “True Story” (produced by Zaytoven, dir. by Nokey Films) goes heavy on The Exorcist imagery, with Marietta-by-way-of-Switzerland artist G-Fresh lacing the hook as a (slightly) more menacing Mike Posner, and playing the role of an undead Chriss Angel in the video.
Purgatory really works best as a full-length listen, where the tracks can collaborate to tell the story of Alley’s tortured soul, but the dark, often violent imagery Nokey Films has been pairing the tracks with works pretty well, too.
