Zilla feat. Stackamil- Wut2dayiz? (from Zilla Shit, 2011)
Wanted to mention this track too. This has been out since 2008, back when Zilla still had “Swag” affixed to the front of his name, and has now been given the video treatment due to its inclusion on Zilla’s Zilla Shit, which I truthfully haven’t listened to yet but I know people have been digging. This track, to me, is the best example of the Block Beattaz sound, and probably my favorite track of theirs. The strings are jaw droppingly beautiful and sit on top a bed of 808s and 8-bit glitches that make up the rest of the track. Zilla and Staccamil both have memorable verses here, with Zilla’s uttering of the title and Staccamil referring to his swag as “neutral” being highlights. Both sound carefree and are perfect over this beat. The video (shot by Steven Trillburge, aka 2 Lettaz from G-Side) reinforces this light naturalism, which combined with the new video for G-Side’s “Came Up”, stand as worthy visual manifestations of the Huntsville sound, giving a real sense of the roots of where their unique sound came from.
