PureBakingSoda Présente: THE BANGA DANCE – THE MEKANIX & MIKE RIMZO
French hip hop blog Pure Baking Soda drops a 37-track compilation of production by Bay Area production duo The Mekanix, and San Jose’s Mike Rimzo, creators of Livewire’s futuristic mobb sound (that also doubles as a great J. Stalin primer).
Livewire’s music represents the other tract Bay artists took after hyphy music burned itself out — going back to the mobstability (no Twista) that originated with the Bay’s rap progenitors like 40, C-Bo, $hort, and RBL Posse. At times generic to a fault, J. Stalin’s best work often comes underpinned by the 80’s Baby sonics of Kenny Tweed and Tha Dotrix, so you’re in good hands here.
