Lil B is sick. Hes like a mix between MF Doom and Lil Wayne. I use Doom because he is raps new indy eccentric and I use the Wayne reference because he puts in WORK. Dude has released a staggering amount of music. I don’t talk to much about myself on this here tumblr but I can tell you one thing, when I hear an artists I like I try and get as much of that artists music I can. I buy the vinyl, download the albums and track down whatever singles / mix-tapes / radio spots / side projects ects. Example, I think I have about 70-80% of the music that Will Oldham has ever released. I say 80% because I am sure he has released music as some random side project that no one knows is related to him. If you don’t know about Will Oldham check this out. [ Will Oldham’s Discogs page ] I wont even begin to talk about my obsession with Madlib… Dude released a lot of music.
Anyways, I bring these artists up because I heard a few tracks by Lil B a few months ago and started to look into his albums and found that this dude has released a sh!t load of music and at this point I don’t think I can put in the time to get it all. That being said in about an hour of looking i found over 4 gigs of his music. And its on HIS website! Are you kidding me?! This guy has some free time. Here is a link to ‘Lil B’s 676-song Mixtape’ over at Consequence Of Sound. That’s a lot of music.
I guess what I am tryin to get at here is that this guy is important and that you should check him out. He is the future of rap. Maybe not Lil B himself but the way he got his music out, though hard work. He is doing it the way people use to have to do it, before the record labels f**ked everthing up… Ok done talking with words.
