Main Attrakionz- Finish Line (prod. by NoaBoa) (Internet, 2011)
Squadda passed me this awesome new track tonight Main Attrakionz did with Berkeley-based producer NoaBoa. A funky, percussive beat with an awesome horn hook, Main Attrakionz spit awesomely over it (“See I’m exclusively nuttin/I drop jewels/I’m a jeweler with philosophy/and middle aged nuns” is a beast opening line, and DAMN at the wordplay of “Anchorage, that’s a place I can’t wait to hit”). This is fairly far from the cloud rap/cracked-psychedelia they’ve become kind of known for, but if their output has shown us anything, it’s that they are pretty fucking versatile. Between the Danny Brown cosign they got earlier this week and the track with Babe Rainbow, “Who Am I?”, Main Attrakionz are having a big week and this is a good cap to it. Among many other projects coming this year, including their full length debut Legion of Doom, Squadda says they’ll be working on an EP with NoaBoa, so look out for that. 2011 is gonna be great.
