A.Dd+ f/ Sore Losers “Likeamug” (2011)
Dallas’s A.Dd+ is made up of Paris Pershun and Slim, and has a few releases to their name, including 2009’s Power Of The Tongue tape. “Likeamug” is the lead single from their forth-coming When Pigs Fly record, and was produced by PicnicTyme (PPT, Cannabinoids, Erykah Badu).
Maybe this is “blog rap,” (though I haven’t read about these dudes on a blog, yet), but the squelchy low-end thump, woozy synth stabs, and ghetto-tech “Hey’s” make this track worth more than a few spins, and take things in a different direction from the Third Coast sound you’re used to.
Pershun’s flow is reminiscent of frequent G-Side/SMS collaborator Bentley, while Slim sounds like T.I. after a purple Sprite, and Brown (of Sore Losers), spits aggressively — sort of the D.S.R. to A.Dd+’s Cannabis Club.
Not that these dudes sound much like any crews (down South or otherwise) currently rhyming.
