Unfaithful

Mr. Pookie & Mr. Lucci

Mr. Pookie & Mr. Lucci “Unfaithful” (2011)

I’m originally from the “Gateway To The West,” but growing up had some friends putting down for that North Texas sound.  And so Pookie’s Tha Rippla stayed in heavy rotation during my early teens.

As a result, I’ve always stayed checking for these guys who, imo, made better music together than on their solo grinds, and that’s still the case on the newest single from their upcoming 10th Anniversary LP.

“Unfaithful,” I think, was produced by Doughski G, who is sadly overlooked outside of the Lonestar state, and echoes the R&B proclivities of one of my favorite tracks from 2010, Tum Tum’s “Award Winning,” (also a Doughski G jam) but also owes something to the DJFreshDJFreshDJFresh synth slaps coming out of my current residence.
