Giorgio Momurda “Juke Traps”
I can’t even tell you where I found the link to this Bandcamp page, but Giorgio Momurda’s Based Thoughts And Paintings, Vol. 1 is a 10 minute whirlwind of styles from spaced-out boom bap to thugstep to, as the song above should tell you, juking and trapping (“Xmas” and otherwise).
“Juke Traps” is more bombastic and ambitious than most juke tracks getting attention lately (cf. the DJ Nate record, Crack Capone or the Bangs And Works comp), but still has the rolling 808s, pitched vocal stabs and general instablilty of the most interesting shit the genre has produced. At the same time, he utilizes the trap’s current sonic calling card of Lex-like ratchet hats to round out the title’s sound.
