Western Tink- Hittin Corners (prod. by oOoOO) (from the forthcoming Hard To Keel EP)
So this is weird but unexpectedly welcome. Unknown Bay Area Austin-by-way-of-San-Bernadino rapper Western Tink linked up with witch house producer oOooO (evidently pronounced “O”) for this track off his supposedly upcoming EP. Lyrical value and flow isn’t exactly mindblowing, somewhere in the vein of a lesser version of Lil B or Tyler (Hitler is referenced), but the gauzy, claustrophobic beat lends itself extremely well to the chorus and the rapping, and I like the track almost in spite of Tink himself. If his Youtube is to be believed, dude’s got a pretty awesome ear for left-field beats; it’d be cool to hear him step up his rap game to match it (though he’s certainly a serviceable MC). As always with basedYoutuberapps, the sound quality is pretty subterranean (for some reason there’s 40 seconds of silence to start the video). Below is the track “I Should Say” produced by the always-exciting Squadda B for Tink, which is a really dope piece of downtempo, piano driven beatwork. Skip to 1:14 to avoid watching Tink go through his daily routine in silence.
