Mouse drop the track…

Baton Rouge’s Mouse On Tha Track is an artist you may not know by name, but the Trill Entertainment in-house producer is the one usually behind the boards when the label scores a mega-hit.
Mouse (real name: Jeremy Allen) has been making bounce-influenced club records since 2004, but the series of events that led to him joining the late-Pimp C’s Trill Ent. family are unclear.  Despite the murky beginnings, though, he quickly earned his first major hit in 2005 with Webbie and Bun B’s “Give Me That,” a woozy southern course in courtship, featuring Bun’s numerical gymnastics to open his verse:

She five foot seven a hundred and thirty-nine pounds / Thirty-six, twenty-four, thirty-eight, pretty fine brown

A year later, on Boosie’s 2006 major label debut, Bad Azz, Mouse handled the bulk of the production and scored another national hit with the Yung Joc assisted, “Zoom” — a track that showcased the signature southern 808 bounce and hand-clap sound of the producer (“Zoom” was also a record planted firmly in the proto-snap model that was seeing plenty of radio play at the time; see also:  the definitive record in the genre, “It’s Goin Down,” also featuring Yung Joc).
The next two years, Mouse produced tracks mosty for Trill Ent. acts, contributing to Webbie’s follow up, Savage Life 2, scoring a minor hit with 3 Deep’s “Watch My Feet,” and working on the Trill Fam compilation record, Survival Of The Fittest.  2009 saw the producer team up with Lil Cali to release their mixtape, Just Because, a record that was just as street-focused as anything Mouse did with Trill (and took the production in a slightly more aggressive direction), though it lacked the emotional depth of a Boosie project, or the (relative) charisma and rapping ability of his work with Webbie.
In 2010, Mouse continues to record music with an ever expanding roster of artists, notching a track with Soulja Boy this year, landing a beat on the final “Pimp C album,” and putting out an overlooked compilation record with Trill Family, as well.
So, as Mouse continues to bring his post-bounce sound into the next decade, I felt like it would be a good time to collect some of my favorite records he’s done over the last six years.  This took way longer than expected, but I certainly don’t consider listening to most of Trill Entertainment’s catalog over a few days to be anything resembling a burden.
Unfortunately, the way production credits have become ephemeral at best (and completely forgotten at worst), made it difficult to actually put together a comprehensive list of all Mouse On Tha Track productions to date, so it’s entirely possible I overlooked some of his work here.  This is by no means definitive, but here they are…
