Girl Unit- Wut (from Wut EP, Night Slugs, 2010)
I have heard this track variously described as “a love letter to the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League” and “a rap track on drugs”. What it is is a fucking banger, a heavy electronic track from the UK with a lot of Jeezy/Flocka production signifiers floating around and combining into a bassy, hypnotic jam. For every Block Beattaz, rap producers expertly drawing from electronic music influences, there are a couple of electronic producers doing the same with rap. The other two tracks from this single, “Every Time” and “Showstoppa”, are just as good, and are posted below.
