GMANE f/ Zilla & Stacamil “Boyz N Da Hood 2” (2010, Alabama Hustle Unit)
Was listening to “Bobby Cox” earlier today, this GMANE track just now, and it’s clear Burn One’s recent work has definitely taken another step up. Productions are really full and sound organic — I think he’s using more live instrumentation to great results — and seem to achieve a warm soulfulness that is a great counterpoint to the post-something, futuristic sheen of much internet rap (NB: that I like).
Cover for GMANE’s Sex, Drugs & Money is gr8. I have a feeling The Ashtray will be one of the few beat tapes worth messing with this year. If you feel otherwise, point me in the right direction via the Ask box.
