Sleepy D “Murderers” (2010, Town Thizzness)
This creeping, shadowy track serves as the backdrop to Sleepy’s murderous rhymes, and builds intensely unlike a lot of the the raucous, high energy slaps that those familiar with the Rude Boyz member are used to.
And it definitely works by transforming Sleepy’s post-hyphy aggressiveness into something more akin to the street-life storytelling of Mob Figaz or the Livewire crew. This record definitely brings additional excitement to the forthcoming Tonite Show release with Sleepy, and continues to cement DJ Fresh’s place at the forefront of exposing young talent in the Bay.
