Been listening to Purp Cobain on the recommendation of Juice Manne Hugo and it’s a really well-produced record. Dallas’s Dirty South Rydaz, a group that’s largely been ignored save on all but a few regional blogs, offer a sound that at times is distinctly 3rd Coast, but at others, as this song shows, owes at least as much to Quik, Dre, and Ant Banks as they do to N.O. Joe, Mike Dean or whoever produced that first Mr. Pookie record (Kevin A.?).
