Main Attrakionz “My Only Love Song” (2010, Internet)
This slipped past me over the weekend while I mined Amoeba and Rasputin’s for used CDs and cassettes.
Produced by Clams Casino, this track is ostensibly from the forthcoming collabo between Squadda B and the steadily-gaining-(independent)-notoriety NJ #based producer.
Interestingly, this production is much more “traditional” than what we’re used to hearing from Clams. With it’s off-kilter drums and pitched vocal and strings samples, the beat is reminiscent of a Black Milk production. Nonetheless, Squadda rides the syncopated beat well, sticking to what he knows best: making music, hanging out with his people, and rolling up some of Cali’s finest.
Squadda + Clams may not “move the needle” at the major online rap outlets, but for those who know what these artists are capable of behind the boards (and on the mic), their collaboration is highly anticipated.
